About the Event

This course is perfect for two people to each make a fingerprint charm necklace or keyring.  You don't need to have any experience of jewellery making or of working with silver clay and it is really easy and fun for both adults and children.

If you are coming with the person or child who's fingerprint is to be used then everything is included in the day.  If you are coming with a friend and so not coming with the person or child who's fingerprint is to be taken a little kit with instructions will be sent out with instructions in advance of the workshop so you can make a mould of the fingerprint using our special silicon putty and bring this to the workshop.  Children attending this workshop need to be 7 years plus.  Note that babies under 1 year old do not have clearly defined fingerprints so it isnt suitable for making fingerprint jewellery of fingerprints of very young babies.

What happens on the day?

On arrival at Rebecca Oxenham Jewellery, you’ll both be welcomed by Rebecca Oxenham and talk through ideas for your designs.

You will learn all about silver clay - which is an eco-friendly and fun way to make fine silver jewellery as well as how to make a mould of a fingerprint (this part is done either done with a little kit and instructions before the face to face part of the course or at the workshop).  You will then learn how to transfer the fingerprint mould to silver clay.  You can personalise your pendant design before torch firing your piece. Using liver of sulphur you can  highlight the details of the finger print if you wish before polishing and finishing and attaching your charm to a jump ring to the piece and hanging on a necklace cord or a chain.

This course is perfect for complete beginners and makes an ideal gift for mothers to do with their child or with a friend - you don't need to have any experience of jewellery making or of working with silver clay. The perfect gift for yourself or that special someone. No experience necessary.
